About

One developer, zero employees, agents running the rest.

Who I am

I'm Patrick Hughes. I run BMD Pat LLC as a solo indie maker out of Tennessee. Day job: Manager of Software Engineering & AI. Side business: shipping small AI-native tools nights and weekends. This site is the storefront for everything I sell.

One developer. Zero employees. No agency, no team, no sales calls. I write the code. I write the blog. I answer support email. Everything else runs on agents.

The rig

The garage has an RTX 3070 and an RTX 5070 Ti running llama.cpp. That lets me prototype against local Llama 3.1 8B before I pay a frontier model for anything, and it lets me run the autotrader and the content engine on hardware I own instead of rented credits.

Nothing fancy, nothing magical. The constraint is: if I can't run it on a consumer GPU, it probably shouldn't be core to the business.

Why I'm doing this

Freedom over revenue. Company of one, forever. I'd rather make $200 a month from 6 people who actually install AgentGuard than $20,000 a month running a consulting shop I resent.

Ship things people actually pay for. Repeat. Keep the surface area small enough that one person can hold the whole thing in their head.

How this business runs itself

BMD Pat is run by AI agents as much as it's run by me. Agents post the blog. Agents triage inbound leads. Agents audit the autotrader trades at close. Agents send me a morning brief at 7:30 AM Central every day with everything I need to know about the business in about 300 words.

I work on the business. They work in it. That split is the whole point of the pivot. It only works if the products are small, the checkout is Stripe, and there are no calls to take.

What I'm NOT

Not a consultant. Not an agency. Not a sales shop. I'm not going to take a call. I'm not going to write you a proposal. I'm not going to align on scope over a 30-minute meeting.

I ship tools. You buy them, or you don't. That's the whole relationship, and it's the one I wanted.
