Patrick Hughes

I'm Patrick Hughes. Day job: Manager of Software Engineering & AI, leading the division building enterprise AI infrastructure. Side business: BMD Pat LLC, a one-person holding company I run nights and weekends out of Nashville.

I started in IT infrastructure, got deep into Azure, got the certs, moved into AI engineering, and ended up running the division. The side business started with a crypto mining rig in 2017 and has been expanding ever since — real estate, automated trading, open source tools, angel bets, content.

Twenty-Two AI agents run the operations. I make the decisions. When I'm not doing either, I'm in a Dota match.

BMD Pat is run by AI agents as much as it's run by me. Agents post the blog. Agents triage inbound. Agents audit the autotrader at close. Agents send me a morning brief at 7 AM Central with everything I need to know in 300 words.

I work on the business. They work in it. That split only works if the products are small, the checkout is Stripe, and there are no calls to take.

Freedom over revenue. Company of one, forever. I'd rather make $200 a month from six people who actually install AgentGuard than chase revenue that turns this back into services.

Ship things people actually pay for. Repeat. Keep the surface area small enough that one person can hold the whole thing in their head.

I ship tools. You buy them, or you don't. That's the whole relationship, and it's the one I wanted.
